Music Monday: El Misti’s new video, “Don’t Ya Love Democracy”

The Liverpudlian due, El Misti, have released a new video for their song, Don’t Ya Love Democracy! and it’s not bad actually. It’s got a couple of elements of Ed Sheeran and Oasis. Taken from their second album, All is Lost.

What I have always liked about numerous Indie songs is that the subject matter is either based on the personal experiences of the writer/singer/musician or it is holding a mirror to the way things are happening in society at that moment in time. Don’t Ya happily reflects on the latter topic with enough edge and grit to reflect true ethos of the landscape, especially if it’s about something that is out of your control.

The more you listen to the song, the catchy it is an you begin to see (and hear) how witty the lyrics are, during the song there is a line; “Tongue tied, I will be no longer, Tonight, I will bring your house down, Freeride, You won’t get from me, Because I’m already sick and tired of the way things are.”

To view the video, use the link below. What’s so good about it is how El Misti have referenced everything that’s going on and have filmed the whole video in black and white to fully reflect the grime atmosphere of the subject in the music.
