Rhythm & Reason: The Age of Jazz in Britain will bring together paintings, prints, cartoons, textiles and ceramics, moving film, instruments and the jazz sound to examine the influence of jazz on British art, design and society. Marking 100 years since jazz first reached Britain, this exhibition, which will be available from 27 Jan until 22 Apr, explores how the jazz of post-war night clubs and dance halls started a chain reaction in British painting, printmaking and cinema. This exhibition also shows how the growing interest in jazz brought black and white musicians, artists and audiences together and was crucial in influencing changes in British society.
