Netflix Renew Black Mirror for a Fifth Season

Netflix have confirmed that ‘Black Mirror’ will be coming back with a fifth season. The company shared the news with a cryptic teaser video with “Be Right Back” written at the end.
Released on Twitter, the teaser shows rows of old Black Mirror episodes buffering. “The future will be brighter than ever,” the post reads, complete with a video of scenes from 12 previous episodes displayed on 12 different screens reminiscent of the Architect scene from The Matrix.
There’s a thing missing in this video — a release date. Season 4 became available on 29 Dec 2017, so the new season is probably months away. There hasn’t been an official confirmation of how many episodes there will be in season 5.
After launching ‘Black Mirror’ on Channel 4, Brooker and executive producer Annabel Jones brought the techno-paranoia horror to Netflix in 2015 for its third season. The show has been widely acclaimed by critics and earned two Emmy Awards for its season three episode “San Junipero”, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Movie.
The sci-fi series features stand-alone episodes that explore the impact of new technology on society. Each episode features a different plot and a different cast. ‘Black Mirror’ has proved fruitful for Netflix, following the success of ‘ Stranger Things’ and the new ‘Altered Carbon’ series currently creating plenty of online buzz.
