Recent research shows that Britons are becoming increasingly conscious of the benefits of recycling to protect the environment, yet the study has also shown that most of Britons are unaware of what can be recycled and what can’t.
The research, which was conducted by the British Science Association, revealed that four fifths of the people included within the study believed that recycling was a wonderful way of helping the fight against the environment’s contamination.
The figures did, however, also reveal a worrying issue. Out of the 2,000 people who were questioned for the study none were fully aware of what household rubbish could be recycled.
According to scientists, trying to recycle waste that shouldn’t be recycled causes more harm than good. The top items that Britons try to recycle which should be put in the normal waste are tops of soap dispensers, used kitchen roll and plastic bags.
The results of the study also brought to light that, contrary to general thinking, millennials are not as environmentally conscious as we think. Not many of them expressed their belief that recycling is a good thing.
Britons have proved their willingness to recycle in order to help protect the environment. What they need now is to be educated as to what can be recycled and what can’t so as not to further harm the environment when thinking they are helping out.
