Netflix has released the main trailer for their upcoming Spanish original thriller series, Elite. The show is the second Spanish Original series ever ordered by Netflix (after Cable Girls, released in 2017).
The series takes place in a posh Spanish high school called ‘Las Encinas’, which Netflix’s press site hypes as “the best and most exclusive school in Spain.” Our three protagonists are working class kids who get the opportunity to join in. An earthquake takes out their school, and as kids are divided amongst the various schools still standing, they get to go to the prestigious ‘Las Encinas’.
Featuring a boat load of rich young people partying, the trailer ends with the character looking into a swimming pool, where a body floats in blood.
Elite has one major thing in common with Netflix’s international hit Casa de Papel – and it’s not just the fact that it’s a stylist Spanish drama.
Elite‘s leading man, Miguel Herrán, is a Casa de Papel alum. He plays Rio, the team’s youngest member. The new series also stars alums María Pedraza and Jaime Lorente. Adding to the cast is Danna Paola (Dare to Dream), currently amongst Mexico’s most popular actresses and singers.
Elite is set to hit Netflix on 5 October. The first season, which will get an English dub, is 8 episodes long.
