Jeetan patel: England’s New Spin Bowling Consultant

Former New Zealand international and Warwickshire captain Jeetan patel has been appointed as England’s new spin bowling consultant for their upcoming T20 series against New Zealand.
Patel will step into the shoes of Saqlain Mushtaq for a shorter time as his contact have not been renewed by England side.
The 39 years old spinner will be part of newly selected coach Silverwood’s coaching setup during the five-match Twenty20 series which will be start on 1 November in Christchurch.
“The opportunity came up and I spoke to Cricket Wellington and they were very positive about me doing that, firstly for my development beyond playing and it gives other guys an opportunity to perform in my place which is part of handing over the mantle”, Patel said.
During his Cricket career, Patel capped 78 times by New Zealand across all formats and becomes the top spinner in county cricket over the past decade.
The former Black Caps player finished the latest county season with 64 wickets at an average of 26.75.
This talented spinner is all set to work with leg spinners Adil Rashid and uncapped Matt Parkinson.
Patel said. “For me looking at what’s next, you’ve got to tap into these opportunities when they arise because they don’t arise all the time. To work with England is huge and I’m so grateful that this has come about, now it’s up to me what I do with it.”
Former English captain Paul Collingwood already joins with the English boys as their permanent assistant coach.
