BAN vs ZIM 2021 ODI Series: Shakib breaks Kallis’ record

Bangladeshi player Shakib Al Hasan broke Jacques Kallis’ world record. Former South African international Kallis is the first player in international cricket history to have 500+ wickets and 12,000 runs. Shakib became the second player to achieve this feat on Sunday. But he reached the milestone far quicker than Kallis.

Zimbabwe bounced back strong against Bangladesh in the second match on Sunday after losing the first encounter of the ODI series. Bangladesh won the match in the end, courtesy of Shakib Al Hasan’s courageous effort with the bat, for that he was presented the player of the match award.

This was a special match for all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who has struggled with the bat this year. Bangladesh won the game in the last over thanks to Shakib’s unbeaten 96* runs. He became the third Bangladeshi player to reach 12,000 international runs with this knock after Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim.

Shakib Al Hasan also broke Jacques Kallis’ world record. Former South African international Kallis is the first player in international cricket history to have 500+ wickets and 12,000 runs. Shakib became the second player to achieve this feat on Sunday. But he reached the milestone far quicker than Kallis. Shakib completed the milestone in 348 games, whereas Kallis needed to play 420 games.

Bangladesh won by three wickets in an exciting battle between these two sides. Team tigers take a 2-0 series lead, with the third match taking place at the same venue on Tuesday.
