Veganism is growing in numbers and is going from strength to strength within the Birmingham community with plenty of options everywhere you go, especially the City Centre!
New restaurant Fressh is Birmingham’s very first vegan fast food establishment and we were invited down to give it a try!
So, what happens when one vegan and one omni go to try out their menu? Well…
Sheridan Rudge: Vegan perspective:
“I was so excited to go down to Fressh! Vegan fast food isn’t hard to come by but it doesn’t exactly scream convenience! I tried the Son of a Bun – Classic Burger and it was big! If you’re in the mood for a feast, this is the burger for you! From the freshness of the bun, to the texture of the patty and the taste of their Fressh sauce I felt like I was having flash back to old meat eating days! It was a tasty burger and kept me full all day!
We also shared the Mac & Cheese side – it was creamy, slightly sweet and a lovely addition to the burger. However, I would also be quite happy to have it as a main!
Let’s not forget the home made lemonade – simple, tasty and as the name suggests, Fressh.
I will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu!”
Hannah Montgomery: Omni perspective:
“As I am unfamiliar with vegan options I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised with the lunch provided.
I chose the Taco Wrap – which the staff kindly make to order – and very much enjoyed the nutty texture and gentle zing of its filling.

Vijay: I wanted to show that vegan food can be good and make it more accessible to the masses!
Vijay: I would say give it a go as there are so many benefits to going vegan from the environment, health reasons and cruelty free. Any meat consumption that is reduced is a step in the right way!
– What item on your menu are you most proud of? How did you get this inspiration for the dishes you serve?
Vijay: Though our burgers are our best sellers I’m proud of our salads as a lot of work goes into each one of them and the dressings we Make are from scratch!– When we were there, we heard someone ask for their usual – what do you think makes customers return and have a ‘usual order’? Are you looking at building a community?
Vijay: I believe serving consistent, quality food is the key for repeat happy customers. Another important thing is price point. We want to make it as affordable as possible which makes a customer return again and again. We want to build a community and not just for vegans – but anyone who just wants good, nutritious fast food!– Can you tell us about your loyalty card?
Vijay: We’ve recently introduced a loyalty card where everytime you spend £6 or more in total (includes breakfast, lunch, food and drinks) you get a stamp. Collect 5 stamps and get your 6th meal at a 50% discount. Collect 10 stamps and your 11th meal is free! We want to give our customers the best deal as possible and it’s only fair that they get rewarded for repeat custom! You can also find us on social media @fresshfood. We are also looking to introduce a 10% discount for students soon!
