The Hermes Himalaya Birkin bag has set the world record with a price tag of £230,000. Puza Snigdha reports.
Hermes, A French fashion house made this most desirable bag from the skin of a Niloticus crocodile which was found in Africa. Moreover, the extremely rare bag is covered with 18k white gold and diamond hardware. The bag is grey to pearly white in color.

A London-based Christie auctioned the 2016 model Birkin and for the first time, on 29th July, the Himalaya Birkin appeared at online sale ever. The bag set another record that the Birkin sold with the highest price in an online auction ever in the USA.
The buyer’s name was unveiled.
The auction also included Hermès Himalaya Birkin 30, Hermès Mini Picnic Kelly 20 II, and a limited-edition Hermès Bleu Marine Faubourg Birkin 20.
Rachel Koffsky, the head of the ales for handbags and accessories at Christie’s said, “Strong prices were achieved for artist collaborations, Chanel runway accessories, and Louis Vuitton Virgil Abloh designed limited edition pieces”.
Cardi B and her husband Offset bought a Hermès Birkin bag with $8,000 for their daughter, Kulture, and faced criticism as they bought this expensive bag for the little girl.
The Hermès Birkin bag was named after, “Jane Birkin”, an English actor and singer which was first introduced in the mid-1980s.
