As a lifelong follower of all forms of motorsport, I always enjoy attending the meetings which are organized by the Historic Sports Car Club. The Oulton Park Gold Cup and the Silverstone Classic have been particular favorites, with the Gold Cup being held on (in my opinion) the most exciting and picturesque circuit in the country and the Classic, combining excellent racing with entertaining music ( for me, personally, a day of historic motorsport, followed by Status Quo, is hard to beat).
Over the last couple of years, it has been a great pleasure to work with Alan Jones, the hardworking and dedicated Competitions Secretary of the H.S.C.C. to promote these and the other events which the club organizes, through our publications. This week, Alan steps down after 16 years of service in this role and I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all that he has done and for the chance to work with him. I wish him well for the future and I look forward to working with his successor in the role.
Already, the H.S.C.C. have laid out their program of events for 2022, and this promises to provide some thrilling racing. The Classic and the Gold Cup have swapped dates, with the Classic now being held over the August Bank Holiday weekend and the forthcoming year sees the addition of the Croft Nostalgia Weekend in September.
I can recommend attendance at any of the club’s well-organized meetings and for further information, please check out the website https://hscc.org.uk/
