In the 17th IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics more than 400 athletes from 150 different countries are expected to compete at the National Indoor Arena with seating for 8,000 spectators. The field events – high jump, pole vault, long jump, triple jump and shot put will be held as straight finals. Twelve athletes will start in the vertical jumps and 16 in the horizontal jumps and shot put. Entries will be determined by a combination of entry standard and ranking. Twelve athletes will also be invited to compete in the heptathlon and pentathlon.
