Iggy Pop narrates a documentary on Tutankhamun.

Iggy Pop will narrate a new biopic about the ancient Egyptian ruler King Tutankhamun. The producer praised Pop’s voice as “incredible” and said that it is exactly “what we needed for this film”. Sanjida Tanmoy reports.

The Last Exhibition about Tutankhamun, archives the archaeological history of King Tutankhamun’s tomb, from its discovery in 1922 to the wildly popular traveling Tutankhamun exhibition that opened in Los Angeles back in 2019. The biopic was produced by Laboratoriorosso and Nexo Digital.

After engaging Iggy Pop to narrate the English version of the film, Nexo Digital’s Rosella Gioffré told in a statement:

“We were looking for somebody that could give a different appeal to the narration of the movie, and we thought of [Pop] and he accepted.”

The tour collected more than 150 articles from King Tut’s grave. It was expected to run until 2023 before the pandemic was hopefully almost cured. The Egyptian government declared that the masterpiece of the antique will never leave the country again.

Laboratoriorosso CEO and documentary producer Sandro Vannini mentioned that “When we heard his voice for the first time we said this is the voice”.

He also added: “This is what we need for this film. The voice of Iggy Pop is simply incredible,” “When he read the story what he was going to narrate he was immediately keen to work with us.”

The film was supposed to be released last year, but the pandemic has moved its release date to 2022.
