Irish PM Rejects Pre-Registration Border System

The Irish PM has rejected the idea of putting in place a system that would mean that people wanting to cross the Irish border post-Brexit would need to register beforehand.
While on a visit to the US Leo Varadkar said: “No, it’s not a solution that we envisage”.
The Irish border is one of the most concerning and most prickly aspects in the Brexit negotiations. Many people on both sides of the border lead a across-border existence – crossing it daily for work and other reasons.
Downing Street have supposedly been working on a series of plans to move along the negotiations. The outline of one of these plans is that people wanting to cross the border post-Brexit should pre-register before doing so in order to avoid any additional checks at the border that could hinder their journey.
Leo Varadkar, the Irish PM, is calling upon senior figures deeply involved in the Brexit negotiations to visit the border and see for themselves how it is completely non-existent. So far, David Davis has been the only one to do so. The British PM has visited Northern Ireland but not the border.
“You can read as many briefing documents as you like,” said Varadkar. “Sometimes you need to see things with your own eyes”.
