The eternal debate: Is the book better than the film? Or is the film better than the book? The general belief is that the books are better than their film adaptations.
But a recent poll commissioned by Vue to celebrate World Book Day revealed something quite different. 2000 adults were interviewed for the poll and the researched showed that many of them preferred the big screen adaptation of classic books.
The study revealed that people love the Lord of the Rings film trilogy and that the films ranked first as the nation’s favourite book-to-film adaptations.
The poll also showed that 4 in 10 Brits prefer to read the book before seeing the film and that 67 per cent of those involved in the poll have read a book after which they can’t wait to see it to the big screen.
“Some of the greatest films ever made have their roots in literature and there are plenty of high-profile book-to-film adaptations like Ready Player One hitting the big screen soon”, said a spokesperson for Vue.
