The Queen has enlisted Kate Middleton’s help during this year’s London Fashion Week, which is set to start on February 16 and end on February 20. Duchess Kate will be playing a small but significant role in the Queen’s beloved Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
The Duchess of Cambridge and The Countess of Wessex will team up to host the reception on behalf of The Queen during London Fashion Week. The event will celebrate and showcase a newly launched creative initiative – the Commonwealth Fashion Exchange.
Launched this week, The Commonwealth Fashion Exchange’s mission is to create partnerships between established and emerging talent from across the 52 member countries.
The reception will bring together influential people from across the global fashion industry.
According to Buckingham Palace: “The initiative uses fashion as a common language and platform to help people understand the modern Commonwealth in a different way.
“It will celebrate a creativity, sustainable production and manufacturing, trade links and ethical supply chains across the fashion industry, from business and design to textile and fabric design and manufacturing, to craft and artisan skills.”
The event is part of the lead up to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, a key passion for the Queen.
Top designers such as Stella McCartney, Bibi Russell and Karen Walker will pair up with names in developing countries with traditional handcraft techniques.
