On Tuesday, a New York appeals court affirmed a judge’s decision to reject Kesha’s counterclaims against producer Dr. Luke.
Luke has been suing Kesha for defamation since 2014, after she accused him of sexual abuse; in counterclaims filed in 2016, the singer asked the judge to rule in favor of voiding her contracts with Luke and his business entities.
On 30 May, her appeal to extradite herself from her contracts with the producer has been rejected, according to THR.
“You can get a divorce from an abusive spouse,” Kesha said during her proposed countersuit. “You can dissolve a partnership if the relationship becomes irreconcilable. The same opportunity — to be liberated from the physical, emotional, and financial bondage of a destructive relationship — should be available to a recording artist.”
Kesha will be embarking with Macklemore on a string of live dates across North America, with the stint running through to August.
