Kevin Costner's 'Yellowstone' Renewed for Second Season by Paramount Network

A renewal has been announced for a critically acclaimed drama series starring Academy Award winner Kevin Costner. Paramount Network announced that Yellowstone will return for a second season, to premiere in 2019.
Following a record-setting premiere that attracted 5.3 million viewers, the series now ranks as cable’s most-watched series behind The Walking Dead, according to the network and Nielsen. The premiere was the most-watched original series telecast both in the new network’s history and its former iteration, Spike.
The western drama chronicles the exploits of a prosperous family who own the largest ranch in the United States, as they work in concert to maintain what they have acquired under the advisement of the Dutton family’s patriarch, Kevin Costner’s John Dutton. In addition to Costner, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White, Danny Huston and Gil Birmingham star.
Production on the 10 episode second season is reportedly set to begin soon, and will be shot entirely on location in states like Utah and Montana. The renewal comes a little less than one month ahead of its first season finale, which is set to air on the network on 22 August.
Oscar-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (Wind River, Hell or High Water, Sicario) returns as showrunner and a writer for Season 2. Sheridan and Costner executive produce with John Linson, Art Linson and David C. Glasser.
Yellowstone is the third original series to launch on Paramount Network since the network was rebranded from Spike TV back in January. The network’s limited series Waco recently scored three Emmy nominations, while the scripted comedy American Woman launched in June.
