Louis Vuitton is about to undergo some changes, as current Artistic Director of the company, Kim Jones, is set to leave today.
The move comes after Kim presents his final autumn/winter 2018 collection for the house, which sees the fashion talent bring his reign over the brand to a successful and memorable close in Paris.
The designer has been commended for his ability to set trends and whoever steps up to the plate to replace Jones will have some pretty big boots to fill.
The successor has not yet been named, although rumours suggest that Off-White designer Virgil Abloh is one of the favoured contenders.
Having worked at Louis Vuitton for 7 years, Kim’s departure is a sad yet significant movement and fans can look back at his performance with nostalgia and wonder – after all, it was Jones that introduced a new blend of streetwear and luxury to the brand, making it somewhat more aligned to the younger adult male bracket as a result.
News items claim that Kim is a possible successor to Christopher Bailey, Burberry’s President and Chief Creative Officer, who is stepping down in March, but this hasn’t been verified as of yet.
We are sure that whatever he chooses to do next, Kim Jones will continue to use his inventive ideas and contemporary visions to empower the wider community during his future endeavours!
