New Zealand born Kimbra is a fusion artist mixing pop with R&B, jazz and rock to give a unique and distinct sound. It’s amazing to hear how she blends the genres in such a way that you only hear the fully rounded result. It’s astonishing that outside of her homeland she is so overlooked, it’s also a great shame. ‘Primal Heart’ is a new extension of her previous work which, using the same elements, has a more world music feel. It’s an album you can listen to over and over discovering new things. A must for serious music lovers.
