The CCA is presenting Mixtape this Sunday, in which Rehana Zaman and academic Aditi Jaganathan will be looking at representations of women of colour in film and television.
As part of Zaman’s exhibition programme Speaking Nearby, she and Jaganthan will be talking about representation of women of colour in TV and Cinema. To do that, there will be a collection of references, music, words and visuals that they have handpicked for the talk.
Aditi Jaganthan is a PhD candidate at Brunel, University of London, having graduated with a an MSc in Human Rights, Conflict and Justice from SOAS. As such, she has also worked with many grassroots organisations to bring a diverse approach to human rights.
Her PhD concentrates on creativity of black and brown people in Britain, and the legacy of British colonialism in audio-visual culture, in particular from 1980s until now. She is passionate about creating spaces where more and more voices can be heard.
The event will start at 3pm on Sunday, February 18, and it’s suitable for all ages. It’s free, but it does require booking in advance – which you can do here.
