When the term ‘prog music’ was coined they probably didn’t have some people armed with laptops in mind. But what Mouse On Mars do is definitely a form of prog, it just doesn’t involve a sitar or a commune. They do suffer a little from the hit and miss factor though which makes ‘Dimensional People’ occasionally brilliant but often a tad tedious. The German music project’s opus is stereotypically well built but lacks flair to the point you wonder if this was composed by robots at times. It’s a case of too much vorsprung durch technik and not enough soul.
