Foo Fighters arranged Nirvana reunion show at Cal Jam 2018 last night, where Nirvana perfomed six-song set.
Dave Grohl and Pat Smear reconnected with Krsit Novoselic and enlisted Deer Tick’s John McCauley and Joan Jett perfomed the six-song during the encore. McCauley and Jett served as guest vocalists when the surviving Nirvana members perfromed.
McCauley performed vocals for “Serve the Servants,” “Scentless Apprentice” and “In Bloom.” Jett closed the night with “Breed,” “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “All Apologies.”Dave Grohl made fun with the crowd by teasing camera shots of members Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear before swinging it around to Jett and McCauley.
Grohl thanked the crowd and asked for a big cheer for Kurt Cobain before playing ‘All Apologies.’ “Thank you Cal Jam. We’ll see you next year. That was fucking awesome – I hope you had a good time.”
Before the last song of the night, Grohl and Novoselic thanked the crowd and asked for a big cheer for the late Kurt Cobain.
“I just wanna hear a big cheer for somebody. I wanna hear a big cheer for Kurt Cobain.”
Grohl has been much more inclined in recent years to document his experience with the band he merged conversations of Nirvana after Cobain died.
