An intensely interesting read that focuses on state violence on the US/Mexico border and the associated racial fight. It explores racism and the struggle immigrants face (particularly regarding their rights) whilst uncovering the roots of the right-wing backlash against them. This book is very insightful and is most convincing in bringing its ideas to light, as it has been thoroughly researched by knowledgable academics. It is topical and has been commended by critics for its perception, rigour and eloquence.
