Things we know about ‘Don’t Worry Darling’

English singer-songwriter Harry Styles is set to star in his second film role, 3 years after his appearance in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk.

Styles has landed one of the lead roles in Don’t Worry Darling, a psychological thriller about a 1950s housewife for New Line Cinema. Here are what we know so far:

  • The film marks female filmmaker Olivia Wilde’s second outing as director, following the huge success of her feature directorial debut Booksmart (which earned her two BAFTA nominations and a Critics’ Choice nomination).
  • Shia LaBeouf was the original casting choice but due to scheduling conflicts, Styles was chosen as the replacement.
  • The singer joins rising starlet Florence Pugh (Midsommar, Little Women) and Chris Pine who signed on for the project earlier this year. Wilde will also join the cast in a key supporting role.
  • Sources say that Styles impressed Wilde and Pugh during an initial meeting and that his casting draws large appeal.
  • The production looks to begin in Autumn, with New Line backing the film confidently considering that Wilde is now one of the most in-demand directors in the business.
