WOMAD have started announcing the first artists for this year’s line-up. Amadou & Mariam, Camille, Django Django, La Dame Blanche and many more have confirmed their presence at one of the most colourful and lively festivals around.
More artists are still to be announced at a date nearer to the time the festival will be taking place. WOMAD, year after year, brings people and artists together from all corners of the world.
WOMAD is a truly unique and diverse experience for the whole family to enjoy a magnificent blend of music, dance, food, art, spoken-word, poetry, science and many more fun activities for families to enjoy.
“We are delighted to make our first announcement for WOMAD UK 2018,” said Chris Smith, WOMAD’s Global Festival Director. “We believe passionately that exploring cross cultural tolerance and understanding through the sharing of great music, arts and dance is the way to a better world.
“And, in a time when the leader of the most powerful nation on earth is advocating arming school teachers, we need this spirit, and events like WOMAD, more than ever.”
The 36th edition of the WOMAD festival will be taking place at Charlton Park in Wiltshire from 26 – 29 July.
