A 112-years-old man named Masazo Nonaka residing in Ashono, Japan, is being recognized as the world’s oldest living male, Guinness World Records has officially announced on Tuesday.
According to Guinness World Records, Nonaka, who was 112 years and 259 days as of April 10, took the title after Francisco Nunez Olivera of Spain died this year at the aged 113.
After the death of his wife in 1992, he is currently living with his family in Japan, which doubles as the more than 100-year-old hot spring inn he used to run.
Talking about the secret of his long healthy life he said, he believes his longevity is down to soaking in hot springs and eating sweets while his daughter thinks it’s because of his living style where he doesn’t let to spoil his happiness.
“Mr. Nonaka’s achievement is remarkable,” said Craig Glenday, Guinness World Records’ editor-in-chief, “he can teach us all an important lesson about the value of life and how to stretch the limits of human longevity.”
Although Nonaka is the oldest living male, Guinness World Records is currently investigating title holders for the oldest living female as no one has taken this title since 117-year-old Violet Brown passed away in 2017.
